EV Charge Point Installation FAQ’S

How can I install an EV Charger at my home?

You can get a charger installed in your home in the UK if you:

-Own the property, or you have permission from your landlord:

1) Have your own off street parking

2) Have a Wi-Fi connection at home.

Please call our friendly team to arrange an assessment. Out Team will carry out an onsite assessment/ site survey to find a suitable location for your car charger. EV Chargers are usually installed on an exterior wall in your driveway, or an interior wall in your garage.

If you do not have a driveway or garage we can talk through your options which may involve liaising with your local council.

How long does it take to charge my Electric Vehicle?

This would be dependant on the type of Electric Vehicle you have, the battery capacity and the type of charge you will be using. The time it takes to charge your vehicle can be as little as 30 minutes or more than 12 hours. A typical electric car with a 60kWh battery takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty to full with a 7kw charging point.

Most drivers will however top up their vehicles rather than waiting for the battery to be empty to charge in full. Home charger points have a power rating of 3.7Kw or 7Kw. Having a home charger fitted enables you to charge up your vehicle overnight and top up during the day when needed. Car chargers come in a variety of speeds: slow, fast and rapid, rapid chargers tend to be fitted at motorway services stations allowing customers to charge their vehicle in as little as 18 minutes.

To charge your vehicle at home you should have a dedicated charger unit installed where you park their vehicle.
